The Bank functions on cooperative principles, emphasizing mutual assistance, financial inclusion, and sustainable development, while maintaining strict compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. As per the latest statutory assessment, the Bank has been classified as Class I with effect from 01 April 2024, reflecting its financial soundness, operational efficiency, and adherence to regulatory norms.
Kadakkarappally Service Co-operative Bank Ltd. No. 1125 is a duly registered co-operative institution with a longstanding history of service to the local community. The institution was established on 05/10/1101 M.E. and commenced its operations on 11/06/1101 M.E. It was originally constituted as “Nair Paraspara Sahaya Nidhi”, a mutual aid society formed with the objective of providing financial assistance and promoting thrift and cooperation among its members.
The inaugural meeting of the institution was convened at the residence of Sri. Kattiyatt Sivarama Paniker, with the participation of 15 founding members. Sri. Kattiyatt Bala Krishna Paniker served as the Chief Promoter and the first President of the institution. At that time, the society functioned under the provisions of the Travancore (Tiruvithamkoor) Co-operative Act.
Subsequent to the enactment of the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969, the institution was reorganized and re-registered in accordance with the said Act and the rules framed thereunder. Thereupon, Nair Paraspara Sahaya Nidhi was formally converted into Kadakkarappally Service Co-operative Bank Ltd. No. 1125, classified as a Primary Agricultural service Society, and brought under the administrative control of the Department of Co-operation, Government of Kerala.
Following its re-registration under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, the first President of the reconstituted bank was Sri. Gopalakrishna Kartha, and the first Secretary was Sri. A. K. Purushothaman Pillai. Since its establishment, the Bank has functioned in accordance with the principles of cooperation, statutory compliance, transparency, and member-oriented service, contributing consistently to the economic development and financial inclusion of its members and the surrounding community.
